3 Months Post Double Mastectomy

I’m definitely used to the tissue expanders by now, but still very ready to get them out. They don’t bother me as much, it’s just annoying if I rest my arm on top or touch it in any way and I still somewhat avoid hugging people because they are so hard. Tired of these rocks. I’ve tried sleeping without my body pillow but I still need it. It’s just so much more comfortable sleeping with one 🥹. They say I have to wait at least 3 months until my next surgery. I still don’t have an appointment scheduled for my next surgery. I had to harass/call them all the last time until they gave me a date and they basically said I’d have to the same thing this time around too. I’ll probably start next week. My surgeon is on maternity leave and doesn’t come back until Aug 1st. I want to get in before the holidays since I’ll be out for another 6 weeks, they said it should be easier next time so we’ll see.

I’m mentally better since I’m drowning myself in work right now. Trying to keep myself busy which I am. I went to do hair for Paris Mens Fashion Week 2 weeks ago. It was a lot of fun and I worked everyday. I literally landed and went straight to work and worked all day. I definitely learned and picked up from tips from watching how other stylists worked. And as much fun as I was having, it ended up being physically too much for me. Towards the end of the week I was in A LOT of pain. I’m technically not even supposed to be working as much as I am but I need to work and stay busy for my mental health. I think what killed me was that I have to carry my kit to every show I was working on. And it’s really really heavy. I think my kit was around 40-50lbs. And in Europe, it was impossible to get a car, at least where I was staying plus it’s summer so it’s super busy. So I ended up taking the metro going to shows so I’m not late. And the amount of stairs! Omg, the amount of stairs 🥲 …I feel like they don’t believe in elevators or A/C lol. The venues I had to go work in, there was also a lot of stairs. And our first floor is floor zero to them. And sometimes their first floor is 2 flight of stairs 😭😭. So carrying my kit everywhere on these stairs plus running around working really really got me. So I definitelyyytyy know my limits. I’m sure if my doctor heard this they’d probably yell at me lol. I actually started to cry towards the end of the week because of the amount of pain I was in. But because of this I think I got stronger so it kinda worked out haha. I still need to build up my stamina though. I’ve only ran once so far after my surgery. I need to put myself in a schedule. It’s kinda dumb though, when I’m finally feeling better I have to do surgery again soon.
